Weather Update – 11:00 p.m. Thursday

Showers and thunderstorms ongoing to the west of the Mississippi River and just to our south will continue to move northeast toward us overnight and early Friday morning. Expect light winds tonight with temperatures dropping to the middle and upper 50s by Friday morning. Some of the rain could be heavy at times in southwest Tennessee and northeast Mississippi. The good news is that we’ll ultimately see clearer skies with warmer weather this weekend!

FRIDAY
Scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm will be possible on Friday morning across much of West Tennessee but especially for locations south of Interstate 40. North of I-40, we might only see a half an inch of rain tomorrow or perhaps no rain at all in some locations. The best chance for thunderstorms will be in northeast Mississippi and parts of southwest Tennessee near the Tennessee River. Showers will thin out and become lighter Friday afternoon and evening. High temperatures will peak between the upper 60s and middle 70s. For the concert being held at “The Amp” in Downtown Jackson on Friday evening, our ground could be soaked but rain should be dissipating by that time.

THIS WEEKEND
Skies will gradually become mostly clear as high pressure settles into the region this weekend. The only time we might have cloudier conditions is on Saturday for those who live near the Tennessee River. Drier weather is expected for a few days after Friday with temperatures beginning to warm up as well. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the middle to upper 70s with morning low temperatures in the lower to middle 50s.
