Driver, cow injured after crashing truck into barn near Gibson
GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A driver is transported to a local hospital after crashing into a barn Wednesday afternoon near Gibson.
The owner of the property where the wreck occurred says a pregnant cow was injured in the crash and may not survive.
A man was driving a pickup truck along T.J. Scott Road when he lost control while rounding a curve, over corrected and left the roadway, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the truck crossed a ditch and went through a barbed-wire fence before crashing into the side of the barn.
The 4-year-old cow reportedly was pinned under the front end of the truck.
“She’s got some broken bones,” Farm Owner, Richard Brown said. “She was underneath, it was a full size truck. It’s probably some internal damage there. We’ll just kind of have to access her and see.”
The driver was transported to a Jackson hospital with serious injuries.
The owners of the barn say the cow was pregnant and likely suffered broken ribs. They said they are not optimistic that she will survive her injuries.
