State offers free fishing this weekend
JACKSON, Tenn. — This weekend, anglers from around Tennessee will be able to hit the waters free of charge from the state.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says those who want to fish in Tennessee waters this weekend can do so without a license.
TWRA officials say they hope Tennesseans will take advantage of the weekend and develop a love of being outdoors.
“There’ll be fishing rodeos throughout the state this weekend,” said John Dunn with the TWRA. “There’ll be one at Lake Graham. There’ll be one here at Muse Park in Madison County. TWRA provides those fish and stocks them in the lakes so that kids can come out and enjoy that at no cost to them.”
The TWRA wants to remind those who get out on the water that all kids younger than 13 need to wear a life jacket if they’re in a boat.
Free fishing for kids younger than 15 continues after Saturday through June 17.
