Weather Update- 9AM
Things seem to be quiet in Jackson right now and mostly are across West Tennessee. Some areas did see some minor pop-up showers, but for the most part VIPIR radar is quiet. Jackson is 72°. The skies in Jackson are clear, but the northern part of West Tennessee is already starting to see clouds approaching our part of the state. It will be muggy and hot out there today, but that is nothing new. So even though temperatures will be in the upper 80s, because of those high dew points we could feel anywhere in the 90s across West Tennessee. We could also see widespread activity for an isolated shower or thunderstorm.
Sunday is going to look a lot like Saturday, except that there will be more clouds because of the low pressure system that is sinking south. This system may also bring us a chance for scattered activity in the terms of showers or thunderstorms. These chances are only 20% and could possibly only be widespread, but when it does begin to rain in any specific area, it could get somewhat windy and it would be likely to hear a possible rumble of thunder here and there because of the storm energy in the atmosphere.
4th of July
Unfortunately, Monday is going to be our best chance for rain. The majority of the day could consist of showers and an isolated thunderstorm. This doesn’t mean it is going to be a complete washout, but we could see areas having heavier showers than others. Some maps are suggesting that through the middle of West Tennessee will have less visibility for fireworks. Other areas such as Shelby, Benton and Henderson counties could possibly see worse conditions for visibility in the evening hours.
Things will finally start to calm down as Tuesday comes to a close. Wednesday and Thursday will bring us the best chance to see any sunshine, but the rain chance will return Friday. Temperatures will also increase as we go into the middle of the week. The humid air is returning for now!
Everyone have a great and safe holiday weekend!
Happy 4th of July!
