WEATHER UPDATE

A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR WEST TENNESSEE UNTIL 8 PM SATURDAY.  ALSO, SHELBY AND TIPTON COUNTIES IN WEST TENNESSEE ARE UNDER AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING UNTIL 8:00 THIS EVENING.

Another day of dangerously hot weather is expected for the Mid-South.  Highs mainly in the upper 90s coupled with dew points in the mid to upper 70s will result in heat index values in excess of 110 degrees in counties along and west of the Mississippi River.  heat indices of 105 are expected elsewhere.  Strong scattered thunderstorms will also be a possibility tomorrow afternoon.  A slow moving cold front will begin to make its way through the Mid-South on Saturday increasing rain and storm chances.  Another disturbance will move through on Sunday bringing more rain chances.  Above average temperatures are expected for much of next week.
