1 confirmed dead from West Nile virus in Shelby County
SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — The Shelby County Health Department is confirming one person has now died from West Nile virus.
That person’s name has not been released.
West Nile virus is most commonly transmitted to humans by mosquitoes, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
Authorities are encouraging everyone in West Tennessee to regularly use bug spray and wear long sleeves or loose, light-colored clothing when outdoors.
