As lawn care weather approaches, is your gear ready?
JACKSON, Tenn. — The fair and dry weather we’ve been having has made it the perfect time to get some lawn care in, but are your tools ready to use?
Check with your local lawn care repair shop to see if your tools, such as lawnmowers, weed trimmers or leaf blowers are ready to go.
Sometimes when not in use for long periods of time, chains in certain motorized lawn care tools can get rusty or broken.
Service manager Chris King at Harris Small Engine says greasing chains and checking oil levels often is important for maintenance.
“You need to check your oil every single time that you mow, before you mow, and then the factory says every 50 to 60 hours,” King said.
Check for any debris that can cause blockage or damage to motors before cleaning lawns.
Make sure to dispose of any clippings properly so they don’t cause driving hazards to motorcyclists on the roads.
