10th annual Celebrity Golf Classic held in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — Golf players teed off early Tuesday morning for the 10th annual Celebrity Golf Classic.
Players competed for awards and gathered together afterwards for a luncheon.
The fundraising event supports the Follow Me Into Business Program, which offers entrepreneurship to youth in the Jackson-Madison County area.
Players say it is an event they look forward to every year to have a good time and give back to the community.
The Celebrity Golf Tournament is sponsored by the Jackson-Madison County African-American Chamber of Commerce.
“We’re just thankful that we have the opportunity to do this. It has developed into one of the biggest golf events in West Tennessee, and we’re very proud of that and we look forward to doing it again next year,” said Garey Jenkins, president of the Jackson-Madison County African-American Chamber of Commerce.
Both local and national celebrities competed in the day’s tournament, including former NFL players and local college athletic coaches.
