LIFELINE announces urgent need for all blood types
JACKSON, Tenn. — LIFELINE Blood Services announces an urgent need for all blood types.
A news release states West Tennessee’s blood supply is at a critically low level and LIFELINE is “in dire need” of donors as soon as possible.
According to the release, the shortage is being causes by several canceled community blood drives due to recent weather, as well as the holidays impacting donors’ schedules.
“A common belief is that most blood is needed after major disasters,” said Melinda Reid, Marketing Manager with LIFELINE Blood Services. “However, daily personal emergencies and the ongoing medical needs of thousands of patients require a constant and ready blood supply. It’s the blood already on hospital shelves that saves lives. West TN patients rely on your donations for their care, and we need those donations now more than ever. We cannot manufacture blood products, so please consider donating TODAY!”
LIFELINE Blood Services has locations in both Jackson and Dyersburg. The Jackson center, located at 183 Sterling Farms Drive, is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with walk-ins welcome. The Dyersburg location, at 1130 Highway 51 Bypass, Suite 19 & 20, is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday through Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
