Two local universities return to the field for a friendly competition

JACKSON, Tenn.—Two teams go head to head in a friendly competition.

Freed-Hardeman University played against Union University in a friendly game of football.

FHU just ended their homecoming week in basketball and Union will soon begin their week of homecoming.

Neither of the universities have their own football team, but thought, “What better way to celebrate homecoming than playing against each other?”

Both teams were comprised of alumni, faculty, and current students.

“So, this is a new tradition for us, since we do not have a football team to be able to have a friendly rivalry with Union. They don’t have a full pad football team either and so, we are able to have a one game season. Again it’s just a fun tradition that’s begun,” said David Shannon, President of Freed-Hardeman University.

Players and the crowd were in high spirits to see which team would win this year.
