Man sentenced after shooting victim 11 times, district attorney says
GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A man has been sentenced after being convicted of shooting a victim 11 times back in 2021.
According to District Attorney General Frederick Agee, 34-year-old Jarvis Emerson was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder with serious bodily injury, especially aggravated burglary, employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, felon in possession of a handgun, and three counts of assault in September.
The charges stem from a November 2021 incident where Emerson broke into the victim’s home in Trenton, shooting them 11 times, according to the district attorney.
The District Attorney says that the victim was able to make a full recovery and was able to testify during the trial.
On January 8, Emerson was sentenced to 55 years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
“The Defendant is a known gang member with a felony record. Our office is focused on removing violent offenders like the defendant from our communities. It’s by the grace of God that the victim in this case did not die after being shot 11 times. I’m extremely proud of our team for getting this case efficiently closed out in approximately 2 years,” Agee said.
