Gibson County deputy receives Purple Heart

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A Gibson County deputy is presented with a special honor.

Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas presented Deputy Joshua Johnson with a Purple Heart Friday morning.

The Sheriff’s Department stated that Deputy Johnson was injured by gunfire while helping serve a search warrant back in December.

The incident occurred December 15 at a residence on Eldad Road in Trenton, where a stand-off resulted in two arrests.

The Sheriff’s Department shared that Johnson was able to make a full recovery and return to work at the end of January.
