Individuals in possible murder-suicide identified, investigation continues

Update on Death Investigation on Highway 88
On May 9, 2024, Jesus and Maria Rios were found deceased in their home.Crockett County Criminal Investigation Division and agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation processed the crime scene.Both decedents were sent to Nashville to undergo an autopsy which was ordered by the Crockett County Medical Examiner’s Office.At this time, this incident is being investigated as a murder/suicide. Based off information currently available, we believe Maria Rios became a victim of homicide by her husband, Jesus Rios. Due to the ongoing investigation, no additional information will be released. CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — A local sheriff’s office is beginning an investigation into the deaths of two people.
Investigators with the Crockett County sheriff’s office confirm they’re working a death investigation near the 3200 block of Highway 88 between Alamo and Maury City.
The Crockett County sheriff’s office, Crockett County ambulance service and the Crockett County medical examiner’s office responded to the scene where two individuals were found dead in a house.
District attorney Frederick Agee was notified by Sheriff Troy Klyce and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called in to the scene.
“We don’t know the time frame, we’re working now to establish a timeline of events. That’s certainly part of the investigation. The TBI, the Crockett County sheriff’s department investigators are looking into all of those, all of that related information,” said Stephen Sutton, public information officer for the Crockett Co. sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Klyce says this is an ongoing investigation.
He also believes this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
