Hearing held regarding supposed new evidence in Holly Bobo case

UPDATE: Man convicted of murdering Holly Bobo seeks new trial

SAVANNAH, Tenn. — A hearing was held Friday in Hardin County regarding supposed new evidence in The State of Tennessee v. Zachary Rye Adams.

Adams was convicted for the 2011 killing of nursing student Holly Bobo. His conviction was based on the testimony of Jason Autry, who has since recanted his testimony.

Friday, we heard from both the defense and prosecution.

Defense stands on new evidence including the recantation of Autry’s testimony, and new testimony from an alleged witness.

Prosecution argued that this is not new evidence.

The State is ordered to file a motion by June 21. Defense has to respond by July 5.

There was no official ruling Friday and a future court date has not been set at this time.

Bobo’s family did show up for the hearing, however Adams was not present.
