Mayor releases statement following Reed’s acceptance of Alford plea deal

JACKSON, Tenn. — Mayor Scott Conger has released a statement following the sentencing of Alex Reed, the former Chief of Staff for the City of Jackson.

On Monday, Roland “Alexander” Reed pleaded guilty to one count of electronic tracking of motor vehicle, a class a misdemeanor.

After accepting the plea deal, Reed was sentenced to time served and 11 months and 29 days of state probation.

In the statement, Mayor Conger says Reed has resigned from his position following the sentencing.

“Effective immediately, Chief of Staff Alex Reed has resigned from his position. This decision follows Mr. Reed’s acceptance of an Alford plea deal in the legal case involving charges of stalking and electronic tracking. We acknowledge the gravity of these charges and are committed to upholding the principles of integrity and transparency within the Mayor’s Office. Our focus remains on serving the city with the highest standards of conduct during the transitional period.”
