Crockett County police speak out following highway wreck

CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — We bring you continuing coverage in regards to a wreck that happened earlier Tuesday in Crockett County.
According to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department, two vehicles crashed shortly after 11:30 Tuesday morning at the intersection of Highway 412 and Walnut Hill Road near Bells.
When our team arrived at the scene, they observed a large police presence, multiple ambulances and a helicopter on scene.
A minivan van and a pickup truck were seen on the eastbound side of the highway in the ditch.
“Four patients were transported and one patient was flown to the trauma center,” said Stephen Sutton, public information officer for Crockett County Sheriff’s Department.
Traffic was halted in the area as crews worked to clear the scene.
“This is a sad day for us on a beautiful day and another serious car crash on 412. As your driving, not just on 412, but anywhere, drive like your life depends on it, because it does,” said Sutton.
Crockett County Sheriff’s Department also says at least one passenger was ejected from the vehicle.
“We ask all those that pass through Crockett County whether you be a citizen or a visitor, slow down, don’t drive distracted, wear your seatbelt, and exercise due caution and safety when passing through. Your safety matters to us,” said Sutton.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
