Tipsters alert us to east Jackson shooting
JACKSON, Tenn.–JPD investigates a shooting at a local housing complex.
Just before 11 this morning, we received word from a WBBJ-7 Eyewitness News tipster of a shooting at Allenton Heights in Jackson.

Upon arrival, our crews witnessed at least seven police vehicles, and a fire truck on scene. An ambulance was also observed leaving the area.
Several people were seen standing around outside the complex.
Law enforcement could be seen taping off a large area around the apartment complex and urging bystanders to stay away.

While our crews were there, two other ambulances and a S.W.A.T. unit arrived on scene along with another Jackson Fire Department vehicle.
Police also closed off Edgewood Avenue, Hale Street and parts of Allen Avenue to ongoing traffic.
Law enforcement were seen setting up a command post near the area of Allen and Edgewood Avenues.
We spoke to an officer at the scene who confirmed it was a suspected shooter in one of the apartments.
We reached out for information from Jackson Police Department, who confirmed that a shooting did in fact occur, but stated that no additional information was available at this time.
