Vehicle crashes into local school, injures student

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — A student is injured after a vehicle crashed into a building at a local high school Monday.

According to Lexington police, an elderly driver in reverse lost control of their vehicle and struck a student near the northeastern area of Lexington High School.

The student was airlifted to an area hospital and there was structure damage to a building.

The area where the accident occurred is near the football field and is a common walkway students use when traveling between buildings.

LPD said the driver of the vehicle was involved with the construction crew who are currently working on project “in or around” the football field.

In a statement from Henderson County Superintendent Danny Beecham, he comments on the swift and coordinated response from the LHS administrative team, school nurses, and school resource officers.

According to Lexington police and Lexington High School administration, the student is in stable condition and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
