BlueCross Hosts Drive-Through Flu Shot Clinic in Jackson Sept. 21
Vaccines available at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Jackson, Tenn. — BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is partnering with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church for a drive-through flu shot clinic on Sept. 21.
Both flu viruses and other respiratory viruses like COVID-19 will likely be spreading in the fall and winter, according to the Centers for Disease Control, making it especially important for people to get a flu vaccine.
Walgreens Pharmacy representatives will administer flu vaccines to those ages 8 and older from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. CT in the church parking lot. BlueCross members or others with health insurance must bring their insurance card to receive the flu vaccine as part of their coverage. Vaccines are available for $41 for those without insurance.

“The flu shot is a safe and proven way for nearly all people to lower the chances they’ll get sick,” said Dr. Andrea D. Willis, senior vice president and chief medical officer for BlueCross. “We encourage our members and all Tennesseans to get vaccinated to protect themselves along with neighbors, friends and loved ones who may be more at-risk for complications from the flu.”
The flu vaccine takes about two weeks to reach its maximum effectiveness, so BlueCross urges members to get vaccinated before peak flu season, which can start as early as October.
