UT Martin’s inaugural SkyhawkPalooza kicks off 2024-25 athletics season

MARTIN, Tenn. — One university’s event is getting fans ready to cheer on their favorite teams.

Officially kicking off the 2024-25 University of Tennessee at Martin athletics season is the first-ever SkyhawkPalooza event.

The free event was held today at Pacer Pond on the university’s campus.

There are 19 sports available at UT Martin and several Skyhawk athletic programs had their own tent setup.

Attendees were able to participate in fun games throughout the evening, including face painting, pet the pony, miniature golf, and a scavenger hunt.

“We just want people to realize that UT Martin is this region’s athletic department, it’s this region’s university. You know, getting more students here, educating them helps us–helps our athletic departments and so it’s not only an athletic initiative it’s a university initiative, it’s a Martin initiative and its northwest Tennessee and that’s what’s most important,” said Alex Boggis, associate athletic director for external operations.

United Way’s ‘Frazier’s Book Bus’ was also present, helping to promote child literacy.
