House fire in east Jackson kills one, officials say

JACKSON, Tenn. — We have an update regarding a fire that occurred Wednesday, September 4.

We first saw this fire while using our downtown tower cameras. There was smoke appearing to come from North Highland Avenue, towards downtown Jackson.

As our WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News team arrived to the scene, at the corner of Hale and Conger Street, one house could be seen burning.

The Jackson Fire Department, Jackson Police Department, and Jackson Energy Authority were seen working on scene.

Residents of the neighborhood shared that this home has been abandoned for some years.

However, the JFD has confirmed that there was one causality from this incident. Officials say this fire is still under investigation.
