‘Twiggy the Water-Skiing Squirrel’ makes appearance at Tennessee Soybean Festival

MARTIN, Tenn. — You have to see it to believe it! Water-skiing on a grand scale, or in this case a small scale.

Meet Twiggy the Water Skiing Squirrel who made a West Tennessee appearance on Thursday as part of the Tennessee Soybean Festival in Martin.

‘Twiggy the World-Famous Water-Skiing Squirrel’ is a fun and interactive performance that features a water-skiing squirrel, along with an educational experience on the importance of water safety.

Twiggy has appeared in hit movies including ‘Anchorman,’ ‘Dodge ball’ and many others.

Her handler tells us how you train a squirrel to water ski.

“Training a squirrel, once you earn their love and trust, is just like training a dog, in a sense of repetition, using the same words, commands, positive re-enforcement, bunch of kisses at the end, give ’em a little treat. We give her a pumpkin seed at the the end, yeah, they’re our pets. So, they’re super smart animals,” said Twiggy’s mom.

Twiggy appeared in three shows at the Tennessee Soybean Festival on Thursday. Shows are also scheduled for Friday and Saturday. You can find show times here.
