Eight local teams compete in West Tennessee State Fair Burger Cook-Off

JACKSON, Tenn. — A West Tennessee State Fair ‘Burger Cook-Off’ was held Thursday afternoon at the Jackson Fairgrounds Park.

The event was hosted by the Farm and Forest Families of Tennessee and Pick Tennessee Products.

It involved Jackson and Madison County elected officials competing in a burger cook-off.

Presiding were Lee Maddox, Farm and Forest Families of Tennessee and Mike Peery, manager of the West Tennessee State Fair.

There were eight teams competing against each other, including team five with Joel Barnes and Brad Douglass representing WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News.

“It is pouring down rain but I haven’t seen people laugh this hard in a long time. The guest list makes it a lot more fun,” said Peery.

The community-centered event promoted local farming and strengthens the local agricultural industry, specifically beef producers. And team 1 with Madison County Mayor A.J. Massey and Jackson Mayor Scott Conger were grand champions!
