Airways Motel to become Men’s Homeless Shelter, Mayor Conger says
JACKSON, Tenn. — City leaders announce a potential solution for the Hub City’s homeless population.
The Jackson City Council met for their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday morning.
According to Mayor Scott Conger, one of the items voted on was the Purchase/Sale Agreement for Airways Motel, which is located at 576 Airways Boulevard.
Mayor Conger stated on social media that the council approved the agreement, and “if all goes well,” the motel will become the City’s Temporary Men’s Homeless Shelter later this year.
Conger says this shelter, which will be operated by Tennessee Homeless Solutions, will replace the initial plans to build a shelter on McCorry Street.

This comes after Mayor Conger took to social media earlier this year asking for public input regarding the location of the men’s shelter, despite holding a groundbreaking ceremony at the proposed location on McCorry Street in April 2023.
According to Mayor Conger, the Airways Motel is expected to begin operating as the men’s shelter on December 2.
