Annual ‘Christmas on Main’ event kicks off in Savannah

SAVANNAH, Tenn. — One city transforms into something you would see in a Hallmark movie.

‘Christmas on Main’ is the city of Savannah’s signature event. Friday night was the kick off of the 2024 event, which saw the lighting of the Christmas tree.

For three weekends, people can take part in carriage rides, train rides, ice skating, arts and crafts and more. Festivities will continue tomorrow, December 7, then December 13-14 and will conclude December 20-21. Activities are from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each night.

“There’s something here for everybody to enjoy. And it gets you in the Christmas spirit. Not only that, when you see these little kids around here, they are overjoyed. And it puts a sparkle in our eyes to see them happy,” said Bob Shutt, Mayor of Savannah.

The best part? This event is completely free of charge.
