Lane College dedicates memorial in honor of radio personality, former student
JACKSON, Tenn. — A local college honors one of its former students who passed away earlier this year.

A dedication ceremony was held in memory of the late Richard Donnell Jr., affectionately known as “Richard Dee” in front of Shy Hall on Lane College’s campus this afternoon.
Richard Dee worked as an air personality on the campus radio station, WLCD-FM. He passed away February 12, 2024.
Representatives from Lane College, family and community members were all in attendance. His father, Richard Donnell Sr. says this honor is very touching for him and the Donnell family.
“To have this memorial in front of the radio station, where he was for so many years just means a lot to his mother, to me and to the family and to his memory,” said Donnell Sr.

Richard Dee was a graduate of Lane, earning his bachelor’s degree in mass communications in 1999. His family says his passion for communications and his vibrant spirit left an indelible mark on the community.
