TDOT making preparations ahead of inclement weather

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Transportation plans to make preparations for the potential winter weather predicted in the coming days.

Through updates from the National Weather Service, TDOT plans to get ahead of the situation and pretreat the roads.

Once the weather drops, crews will be out to clear roads as they become necessary. Making sure the interstate, major state routes, and medical areas are clear is their priority.

“The areas north of I-40, we are going to look at pre-treating the I-40 bridge over the Tennessee River as well as some other bridges and overpasses in the area. The elevated surfaces do freeze first,” said Nichole Lawerence, regional communications officer for TDOT.
