Jackson Rotary Club announces Marda Wallace as Woman of the Year recipient
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Rotary Club held its 72nd annual Women of the Year Award Ceremony.
The Woman of the Year Award is given to women who are dedicated to making our community a better place. Recipients are hard working, passionate and a role model for other women. The 2024 award goes to councilwoman Marda Wallace.
“I was just so completely surprised — honored — just taken back. With all these women before me, what great things they’ve accomplished, what they still accomplish. And just what a privilege and an honor,” said Wallace.
Wallace is passionate about giving back to the community. Over the course of her career, she served on several committees and supported local organizations. As councilwoman, Wallace is dedicated to helping the people in Jackson.
“You never feel like you’re enough, you never feel like you’re giving enough. I never feel like I’m actually doing my best. And I always am my hardest judge, I’m like, ‘Could I have done that better? Should I have done that better? Did that person feel better when I left them?'” said Wallace.
During the presentation, Wallace was awarded a pin in honor of becoming a Paul Harris Fellow.
“To me it sounds like what the rotary really stands for. I am so honored that people think and hope and see in me that that’s how I try to live by,” said Wallace.
Wallace’s golden rule is to treat people like you want to be treated, anywhere, at any time, in any situation.
