Kite Festival coming to West Tennessee in March

Ripley Park and Rec and the Lauderdale Chamber ECD Announces First Annual Kite Festival – A Day of Fun for All!

Ripley Park and Rec Director Mike Worlds and Lauderdale Chamber ECD Director Susan Worlds are thrilled to announce the inaugural Ripley Kite Festival, set to take place on Saturday, March 22nd at the Ripley City Park. This exciting new event promises a day of high-flying fun for all ages, bringing families, friends, and kite enthusiasts together for a celebration of creativity, outdoor adventure, and community spirit.

Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities, including kite flying contests. Whether you’re a seasoned flyer or trying your hand at kite flying for the first time, the festival offers something for everyone. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own kites and join in the fun.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, embrace a timeless pastime, and connect with our community,” said event coordinators, “We invite everyone to bring their kites, their families, and their enthusiasm for a day of laughter and excitement in the skies over Ripley.”

Additional festivities will include food vendors, and a designated children’s area hosted by Lauderdale Alumni with games and activities. Prizes will be awarded in various kite-flying categories, such as Best Overall Kite Design, Highest Flying Kite, Youngest Flyer, Oldest Flyer, and Best Traditional Kite..

The Ripley Kite Festival is free to attend, and all are welcome. The event will run from 10:00am to 2:00pm, with ample parking available at the venue. In case of inclement weather, a rain date will be announced.

Save the Children organization is the sponsor of the Kindergarten Readiness program and they will be giving free kites to the first 100 kiddos to visit their booth ages 3-5 years old.
