Flash floods close roads, slow traffic
Many parts of West Tennessee have experienced flooding due to recent storms that have swept through the region.
Some areas are dealing with scattered power outages, stalled traffic lights, accidents and a great deal of flooding.
After reports of flooded roads, our crews surveyed the area of Franklin Avenue in Lexington. There the area behind Bucks Building Supply has collapsed.
Our crews witnessed severe flooding in the area of Roy Pruitt Road and a three vehicle accident in the area intersection of Fred Odle Drive also in Lexington.
In Benton county, Fire Chief Jeff Pierce reports that the Mcillwain area near Mcillwain Road and North Morgan Creek has flooded.
It’s important to remember when traveling roads and encountering standing water to “Turn around, don’t drown!”
