‘Wes’s Game’ in Jackson to raise awareness for Down syndrome

JACKSON, Tenn. — Guests from all over the region gather at the Rockabillys Stadium for a good cause.

Wes’s Game kicks off today! It’s an annual high school baseball event in the name of Down syndrome awareness.

They have 26 teams that are expected to play with 19 games throughout the week. The purpose is to raise donations and awareness for Down syndrome. This initiative sparked in 2018 and has now turned into a tradition.

The players have the chance to interact with recipients and make their dreams a reality.

“Each team has special designated MVP that they’re playing in honor of this week so hopefully that person can be here,” said Chris Clark, director of Wes’s Game.

“They’re doing things like throwing out the first pitch, getting to be honorary players, running out the starting line up and going up to the press box to do some announcing for their team,” said Natalie Sorensen, coordinator for Wes’s Game.

Wes’s Game leads up to March 21 for World Down Syndrome Awareness Day.
