April 22nd, 1934 – February 27th, 2025
Annie Ellen Wilson Wilkins passed away peacefully February 27, 2025 at age 90. Born
April 22, 1934 in Madison County Tennessee, Annie was the fifth child of seven children
of Edward Albert Wilson and Annie Evelyn Smith Wilson. She graduated Lexington High
school with scholastic honor and married the boy next door, a Korean War veteran,
Harold Eugene Wilkins on September 28, 1952. They had 4 children, raising them in the
country life they loved camping, boating, fishing, farm animals, farm work, friends,
church life and a family of pets gave them joy. Annie was a retiree of the UDSA Farm
Service Agency in Lexington and member of the Luray Baptist Church. She loved her
work @ USDA to help the farmers. She was from a long line of farmers herself.
Annie was preceded by both parents; husband Harold of 69 years; beloved daughter
Nancy Ellen Wilkins Jury; daughter-in-law Karen O’Brien Wilkins; and Wilson siblings
(Paul, Helen, Hubert, Virginia Small, Patricia Thornton). She is survived by daughter
Cathey Wilkins (Brian) Jacobson; son Michael Wilkins; daughter Daphne Moeller; son-
in-law Paul Jury; brother Curtis Wilson; nieces, nephews and neighborhood kids she
loved like her own. Annie is survived by three grandchildren: Jeremy Wilkins of Jackson;
Kayce Moeller (David) Grounds of Texas, Morgan Moeller (William Thomas) Scoggin of
Wisconsin. She is survived by three precious great-grandchildren in Texas: David
Charles Grounds; Gwendolyn Claire Grounds; and our precious Lucy. Annie dearly
loved her family, her friends, her life. She gave generous time, food and kindness to
people in need. Remembrances of Annie are green eyes that twinkled when she
laughed, her affectionate smile, sunny personality, eternal optimism, the way she
tackled a difficult chore to make it fun (she was the perpetual step-up volunteer); her

natural inside-out beauty, positive outlook and gratitude for everything in her life, big or
small.
To those who wish to sponsor a memory of Annie, our shelter animals and volunteers
will make wise use of the generosity. Frances Halbrook Hensley Animal Shelter @ 78
