William David Tate
William David Tate, 67, of Hornbeak, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Born on March 20, 1958, in Union City, he was the son of the late Bill and Jane (Daniels) Tate. On February 14, 2003, he married Velma (Roberson) Tate, with whom he shared 22 wonderful years.
David dedicated 33 years of his life to the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company before retiring. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the United Steel Workers Local 878.
He is survived by his loving wife, Velma Tate of Hornbeak; and his children: Hailey Crowell of Hornbeak, Jada Owens (Robert) of Union City, Paul Tate (Trisha) of Obion, Matt Tate (Jessica) of Ridgely, and Doug Baker (Molly) of Obion. He also leaves behind his sisters, Martha Roney (Cecil) of Troy and Patsy Holland of Chaffee, Missouri, and his brother, Franklin Tate (fiance Lori Pope) of Obion. His legacy continues through his twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Greater Vision Church in Troy, officiated by Brother Clint Kirby. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Greater Vision Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Robert King, Dave VanWormer, Shaun Stover, Tony Prince, Guy Roberson and Tony Duncan.
