CCSD provides update on drive-by shooting involving juvenile suspects
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE CROCKETT COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT:
FRIENDSHIP, TN — The Crockett County Sheriff’s Department (CCSD) provides an important update regarding the drive-by shooting that occurred on March 1, 2025, within the city limits of Friendship.

After further investigation and legal proceedings, both juvenile suspects involved in the incident have been transferred to adult court pending indictment by the grand jury.
Edward Antunez, now 18, was 17 at the time of the alleged crime. He faces multiple charges, including:
- One count of unlawful possession of a weapon
- One count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony
- Two counts of aggravated assault
- One count of retaliation for past actions
Joseph James, who is currently 17 years old, has been charged with:
- One count of attempted first-degree murder
- One count of unlawful possession of a weapon
- One count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony
- Two counts of aggravated assault
Following the initial reports of gunfire, CCSD deputies, along with assistance from Bells and Gadsden Police, quickly responded to secure the area, gather evidence, and conduct a comprehensive investigation. The swift and coordinated actions of law enforcement and the support of the community were pivotal in identifying the offenders involved in this serious incident.
Fortunately, there were no injuries to citizens or law enforcement officers during the drive-by shooting. The Crockett County Sheriff’s Department remains committed to the safety and security of our community and will continue to pursue all avenues of this investigation.
