Martin Mayor resigns following criminal investigation, reports confirm

MARTIN, Tenn. — Several reports indicate that former Martin Mayor Randy Brundige has resigned following a recent criminal investigation.

According to the reports, Brundige sent out his resignation Friday to six aldermen in Martin. The Vice Mayor, David Belote is expected to assume the duties of the Mayor.

The resignation comes just days before a special-called meeting this Tuesday where there was a proposal to ask for the Mayor’s resignation.

Mr. Brundige, Mr. Thompson, and Ms. Natalie Brundige will appear in Weakley Circuit Court for their arraignment on Monday. The three are facing charges of theft of property and official misconduct.

Mr. Brundige was in his sixth term as Martin mayor, serving 23 years.
