LEXINGTON, Tenn.– Leaders in one town assemble for their regular monthly meeting.

The mayor and aldermen held their monthly board meeting Monday evening in Lexington.
City leaders approved a tax freeze for senior citizens with a lower income.

Affected seniors will have their current tax frozen. Any tax increase in 2026 will not go up for seniors.

Mayor Gordon Wildridge shared how citizens can apply for the tax break.

“What they’ll do is pick up a forum and they’ll fill it out. They go to the county property assessor at the county court house and that’s where they’ll enroll. They will verify the income by their income tax statements,” said Wildridge.

Only seniors with less than a $37,530 yearly income can apply for the tax freeze.
