Judge Mark Patey Announces Candidacy for Madison County General Sessions Judge

(Jackson, Tennessee) – Judge Mark Patey, a lifelong Madison County resident and veteran attorney with 37 years of legal experience, announced today that he will run for election to continue serving as Madison County General Sessions Judge, Division I.

Judge Patey was recently appointed by the Madison County Commission on May 19, 2025, following a distinguished legal career built on integrity, fairness, and an unblemished ethics record.

A graduate of Jackson-Madison County Schools, Union University, and the University of Memphis School of Law, he returned home after his education to serve the people of Madison County.

Before taking the bench, Judge Patey represented thousands of local residents, managed more than nine hundred mediations, and earned the respect of clients and colleagues for his professionalism, balanced judgment, and commitment to justice.

As he launched his election campaign, Judge Patey emphasized the core principles that guided his service on the bench:

  • Protect the Rule of Law and the Constitution
  • Never Legislate from the Bench
  • Keep Criminals Behind Bars and Off Our Streets
  • Treat Everyone Fairly When They Come Before the Court
  • Protect Seniors from Fraud and Abuse

“Throughout my career, I have made a commitment to upholding the rule of law, protecting the Constitution, and working tirelessly to ensure that justice is always served and the people of our community are protected,” Patey said. “As Judge, I have made every effort to continue those principles and to treat everyone who comes into our courtroom with respect. I am honored to serve you and will never forget where I came from. You have my word.”

Judge Patey has been deeply active in community service through organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club, Crime Stoppers, and the West Tennessee Young Lawyers Association.

He and his wife, Carolyn, together have four children and are active members of Aldersgate Methodist Church.
