City of Jackson seeks volunteers as temporary warming shelters prepare to open
JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson is preparing for the extreme winter weather moving into West Tennessee this weekend.
In a post made Tuesday, Mayor Scott Conger made the announcement that the following shelters are expected to open:
- Women and children: First Methodist in downtown Jackson
- Men and children: T.R. White Sportsplex
Mayor Conger goes on to say that the Jackson Police Department will provide onsite safety, and Madison County Emergency Management will provide cots and blankets.
However, warming shelters require several resources to operate and Mayor Conger is asking for fellow West Tennesseans to help keep them open.
