JACC enters emergency response mode, reminds residents to provide shelter for pets

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Animal Care Center says it will not be responding to non-emergent calls until next week in order to prioritize life-threatening situations during the severe weather event.

Animal Services Director Whitney Owen said in a statement Friday that the center is working with limited resources and has officially entered emergency response mode.

At this time, residents are asked to message their Facebook page or call the Jackson Police Department’s non-emergency dispatch line at 731-425-8430 if they see an animal in immediate danger of freezing to death within city limits.

Owens warns residents that if the center is required to respond and remove an animal due to a lack of care or failure to provide proper shelter, then that person will be charged with animal cruelty.

If you haven’t already, now is the time to bring your pets inside or prepare a proper shelter to protect them.
