Check-in on conditions in Dyer Co. area, Mayor Quick comments

DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — We wanted to come to some of our northern counties to learn how they were affected by the winter storm.

We came to Dyer County and spoke to Mayor David Quick to learn about what their plan was before the winter weather came in.

“Well we had several meetings when we all saw this coming,” said Mayor Quick. “You can’t prepare for something like this. We thought it was going to be a snow effect. It’s been different. It’s been horrible with the amount of snow and the ice accumulation on the snow.”

Mayor Quick says over the last few days, they have had to use a lot of resources to get to where they are now.

“It is expensive. It is really expensive. Future road projects that the county road commissioner may have had proposed, I know some of my road construction projects that I was holding onto funding, this has ate into our funding,” said Mayor Quick.

In situations like this, a lot of people have to come together to get done what needs to be done. Mayor Quick tells us the importance of that.

“Everybody coming together and doing a good job. Together. Together is everything. I’m telling you it is. We share a lot of manpower. Our sheriff has been amazing. He’s done a great job out in the field,” Quick said.

Mayor Quick says all of the businesses in the county are currently open, which is certainly a blessing.

Mayor Quick also said that this experience has not been one that they could just shovel out of. It has taken a lot of hard work.
