One More Day Of Bitter Cold, Rain Returns Next Week

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until Noon Sunday for all of West Tennessee. By the time that expires, a southwest breeze will return to the region sending temperatures up to almost 50 degrees in some parts of the area. We also have a chance for rain coming in this week.

Saturday:

Many areas across the Mid-South will struggle to get above 20 degrees today as snowpack and ice are still reflecting much of the sunlight. Some of these areas today picked up some additional flurries, but those should have little to no effect on anything developing across the day. A strong northerly breeze will keep it feeling below 10 degrees for much of the day for almost all of West Tennessee.

Sunday:

A long awaited southwestern wind will return to the region bringing temperatures back above freezing. This time, it will last for at least the next 5-7 days. The breeze will be light, but it will start to bring warmer air to the region with most of us topping out in the upper-30s. This same southwestern breeze will also prevent temperatures from falling below the mid-20s overnight, with additional help from some cloud cover.

Monday:

Monday’s temperatures should really accelerate the melting of ice that may linger in the area. Temperatures will rise to the mid or upper-40s with a light breeze from the south. Some areas south of Jackson will have a chance at 50 degrees. This will greatly aid the hardest hit areas from last week’s winter storm. Again things continue to warm ahead of the next front coming Tuesday.

Tuesday:

Our next chance of rain will be Tuesday afternoon. If the rain holds off until the late afternoon, much of West Tennessee will have a chance at 50 degrees, and maybe even a bit warmer than that. The cold front behind this rain will not be nearly as potent as recent fronts. Temperatures will fall back down to the upper 30s for Wednesday before quickly rebounding to end the work week with another chance at 50 degrees by Friday.
