Thomas Darel “Tom” Maggard

Thomas Darel “Tom” Maggard, 85, of Union City passed away 12:57 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2026, at his home. He was a former resident of Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Pastor Russell Zik and Pastor Justin Hiens will officiate. Burial will follow in Stanley’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.

Tom was born August 14, 1940, in Cutshin, Kentucky, son of the late Oral and Cassie (Williston) Maggard. He married Betty (Burress) Maggard March 11, 1960. She preceded him in death May 21, 2024. Tom had been employed at the former Reelfoot Packing Company, had owned and operated a service station in Union City and retired supervisor with the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Union City. He was an avid golfer and a member of Cypress Creek Baptist Church near Martin.

He is survived by one sister, Barbara Compton of Honaker, Virginia; his loved ones who cared for him – his nephew and his wife, Mike and Valerie Burress of Martin and his brother-in-law and wife, Finis and Judy Burress of Union City; several nieces and nephews; and his fur baby whom he deeply loved, Zoe.

The family would like to thank the following people who cared for Tom during his final days; his niece, Penny Alexander, Renee Mulligan and Judy Cravens.
