Child struck by vehicle on Highway 88 South, airlifted in critical condition

CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — A child was struck by a vehicle near the 3000 block of Highway 88 South around 4 p.m., according to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department.

The child was airlifted to the nearest level one pediatric trauma facility and was listed in critical condition, the sheriff’s department said.

A multi-agency response was deployed following the crash. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is the lead investigative agency.

The child’s identity has not been released due to applicable laws. Family members have been notified, the sheriff’s department said.

According to Crockett County PIO Stephen Sutton, the driver remained on the scene and is fully cooperating with authorities.
