Jackson Perkins ranks third nationally in fundraiser for terminally ill children
JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson restaurant is working to put the city on the map by helping terminally ill children and their families.
Perkins in Jackson has been raising money for Give Kids the World for the past five weeks and is ranked third out of more than 300 Perkins locations nationwide.
The nonprofit provides week-long, cost-free vacations for seriously ill children and their families.
The Jackson store is raffling off a gift basket worth more than $1,000 for $5 a ticket, collecting donations in tip jars and selling “Hug bears” that hang on a wall inside the restaurant.
“Each child puts a star on the ceiling every time they come and visit, so, it just gives you a visual of just how many people we’ve helped over the years,” said Laura Seiber, assistant general manager. “Our hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., today and tomorrow. And we will take donations all the way up until 9 o’clock tomorrow night.”
The goal is to raise enough to make Jackson the top-donating Perkins in the country.
