DETROIT (CNN) – Firefighters rescued a puppy seen peeking out of a chimney top at an abandoned home in Detroit.

Neighbors called for help March 31 after spotting a pit bull puppy, roughly 3 or 4 months old, atop the chimney of a crumbling home, The Detroit Free Press reports. Officials with the Detroit Fire Department responded to the scene and set up their ladder truck, climbed to the roof and pulled the pup to safety.

Now named Stack, the puppy is up for adoption as of Monday, according to Michigan Humane. He was malnourished when found but otherwise healthy and has since gained some weight.

Matt Pepper, the president and CEO of Michigan Humane, told the Free Press that Stack has a “great personality.”

“He loves cuddles and being pet,” Pepper said.

He added the puppy is a bit “mischievous” and said whoever adopts him will “get a great dog but one they’re going to keep an eye on.”

Anyone interested in adopting Stack can find more information on the Michigan Humane website.
