Selmer Middle cafeteria employee charged after alleged assault of student

MCNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. (WMC) – A Selmer Middle School lunch staff member has been charged following assault allegations.

The McNairy County Sheriff’s Office said that on March 18, deputies met with parents of a 15-year-old who said he was assaulted by a school lunch staff member, Sequoia Hively.

According to an investigation report, Hively is accused of hitting the student on the back of the head. Deputies reviewed surveillance video and confirmed the assault. The report said the child did not have visible injuries.

Hively was charged with one count of assault.

This is the second alleged assault in the McNairy County School District in two days. On March 19, a Selmer Elementary School staff member was charged with simple assault after being accused of grabbing a student with special needs by the lower body and dragging him across a rug.
