Jackson celebrates 4th annual Children’s Day at city hall

JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) – Local children celebrated a day full of creativity and community.

The City of Jackson celebrated it’s 4th annual Children’s Day at city hall. The tradition honors the creativity, talent, and potential of the youngest members of our community.

Ashley Akerson representing the dreamers and makers afterschool program received this year’s proclamation.

“A lot of people say our children are our future but I believe our children are our present. Their the light in our day and I really love our art club because it gives children a way to express themselves creatively and have fun and not have to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. Just get to be WHO their meant to be,” said Ashley Akerson, executive director of Dreamers and Makers.

Attendees also had the opportunity to view a curated art exhibition featuring original works created by Akerson’s students.
