Woman accused of chasing down, shooting at driver who hit chicken in road

WIRT COUNTY, W.Va. (WTAP/Gray News) – A West Virginia woman is facing charges after she allegedly chased down and fired multiple shots at a driver who hit a chicken outside her home.

The West Virginia State Police responded last Friday to an intersection in Wirt County after a man was reportedly shot at, according to a criminal complaint.

The trooper spoke to the victim, who claimed he was driving his side-by-side when he struck a chicken in the road in front of a house. He kept going and was later “chased down” by a driver in a Toyota Tacoma who he says was blaring their horn and tailgating him.

As he turned at an intersection, the victim says the suspect put the pickup truck in park, got out and allegedly shot at him three times. He claims he saw the gun pointing at him when the shots were fired.

The victim told law enforcement he recognized and knew the suspect to be Bobbie Drennen, according to the criminal complaint.

Drennen told the trooper that the victim drove past her home at a high rate of speed while her children were playing in the front yard and struck her chicken in the middle of the road.

The complaint says she stated she “chased him down” and met him at the intersection. She said when she arrived at the intersection, the victim did not stop. She claimed she then fired her gun into the air.

The trooper placed Drennen under arrest and seized the firearm. She was charged with wanton endangerment with a firearm and taken to the Wood County Holding Center to await arraignment.
