Testimony continues in newborn twin deaths trial.
GALLATIN, Tenn. (AP) – Jurors are expected on Wednesday to hear a police interview with a woman accused of smothering her newborn twin sons. Police have said Lindsey Lowe told them she held her hand over the boys mouths until they stopped crying after giving birth at home in an upper-middle-class suburb about 20 miles northeast of Nashville. The 26-year-old hid her pregnancy from everyone after cheating on her fiance. Prosecutors are trying to prove the killings were premeditated and have suggested they were intended to hide the affair. Defense attorney John Pellegrin has said Lowe was in denial about her pregnancy to such an extent that she thought she had breast cancer when she began lactating, shortly before the birth. Pellegrin also suggested that police planted the idea with Lowe that she smothered the infants.
