JACKSON, Tenn. — Lawyers offered free legal advice Tuesday for low income residents in Jackson. West Tennessee Legal Services helped clients at the Regional Inter-Faith Association. The attorney managing the pro bono project said every year they try to reach out to people who might not know what services they offer. Lawyers said food stamp benefits, disability issues and housing are some of the things they come across. “We’re trying to assist those veterans to get into some type of housing so that they don’t have to be out in the community and be homeless,” said Kathryn Tucker, managing attorney for the pro bono project at West Tennessee Legal Services. Tucker said they hope to come back to RIFA on a monthly basis.
